2017

April was Oral Cancer Awareness Month

"An oral cancer screening is a quick and painless part of your ordinary dental examination," says Dr. John Reckner, F.A.G.D. "Although we perform cancer screenings all year long, in April we support OralCancerCause.org, a national foundation that helps patients and their families undergoing treatment for oral cancer." In April our team wore purple ribbons, and educated our patients about the importance of early detection. Learn more about the benefits and how easy it is to have an oral cancer screening.

Marie and Team

Bubble Gum Challenge!

This year we participated in the Bubble Gum Challenge! Many oral cancer patients are not able to chew gum … .or blow a bubble. We blew bubbles for those who cannot and encourage our patients and friends to join us.

We made a donation to Oral Cancer Cause’ Bubble Gum Challenge and encourage our community to support their mission. All donations to this nonprofit are tax deductible and go to helping patients and their families during treatment and to educating the public about the importance of oral cancer exams.

Our First Dental Mission to Nicaragua, February 2017

"Weaver, Reckner and Reinhart Dental Associates has always reached out in our local communities to take care of the dental needs of individuals and families who need dental care and access to dental care. In February we will expand our services to another community in need, a community beyond our borders and a community that receives very little dental care," says Dr. Todd Weaver. "We will spend an entire week treating patients in Nicaragua with the Hearts, Hands & Smiles Foundation, an organization founded by Robert Ayers of Telford Pennsylvania. We hope to give support to a number of local dentists while in Nicaragua and with our own supplies and equipment treat as many patients as we are able. We will travel with a team of nine volunteers and will look to the possibility of many future trips of service to the Nicaraguan people."

Dr.Todd Weaver and Dr.John Reckner will be leading the trip to Nicaragua with volunteers from our dental team. Follow our Nicaragua Dental Mission on our facebook page and on social media #wrrSmiling #wrrDentalMission.

To raise the necessary funds we partnered with the Gran Pacifica Beach and Golf Resort in Nicaragua which generously donated two vouchers as a way to help us raise money and to give back to their surrounding communities. Each voucher is good for a complimentary 1-week stay in a beachfront condo at Gran Pacifica, and includes 2 rounds of golf and unlimited horseback riding on the beach. On January 20th we choose two winners during our live video stream on facebook. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our dental mission! 2016 has been a big year for our practice as we finished construction and opened our new state-of-the-art dental office on Main Street in Harleysville on April 4. In July we had fun with our patients during our Patient Appreciation Day at Rita's Water Ice, and in August we celebrated with over 400 patients and their families at Souderton Community Park, enjoying the Give and Take Jugglers, and watching Big Hero 6 together! We provided free dental care to those in need in our community at our Smile Day in February, and delivered Thanksgiving baskets to the Keystone Opportunity Center. We are thankful to be part of the Indian Valley community.

"An oral cancer screening is a quick and painless part of your ordinary dental examination," says Dr. John Reckner, F.A.G.D. "Although we perform cancer screenings all year long, in April we supported OralCancerCause.org, a national foundation that helps patients and their families undergoing treatment for oral cancer."

This year the doctors at Weaver Reckner Reinhart Dental Associates made a donation of $2,000 to OralCancerCause.org on behalf of our practice.

Oral cancer is one of the fastest growing cancers in the U.S. and will be diagnosed in more than 40,000 Americans this year alone. When caught early, the survival rate can be as high as 90 percent. Dentists are the first line of defense against oral cancer. That is why we advocate for and provide our patients with bi-annual screenings. Being an Oral Cancer Cause partner lets us lend our voice to raising national awareness about oral cancer, and educate patients on the life-saving potential of regular screenings.

Annual Smile Day Provides Free Dental Care to Our Community

We are so grateful to our dedicated team who volunteered their time and skills on Saturday, February 20, to provide comprehensive dental care to 43 patients in need in our community. The dental exams and treatments equalled approximately $16,000 worth of services. Every year we reach out to the community by contacting schools, churches and the Keystone Opportunity Center to connect with residents who could benefit from our Smile Day event.

Christopher M. Zeledon, D.M.D. Joins Our Practice

Dr. Christopher Zeledon

We are very pleased to welcome back Dr. Christopher M. Zeledon to Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart Dental Associates. Dr. Zeledon is a 2015 graduate of Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, and a member of the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He began working for WRR as a chairside dental assistant in 2007 while studying for his Bachelor’s degree in pre-professional biology at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA. As a dental assistant, he was given the opportunity to take part in a dental missions trip to Honduras and attributes the experience he gained through WRR and Honduras with solidifying his desire to pursue a career in the dental field.

During his dental training at Temple University, he was able to take advantage of various outreach opportunities the school offers to help serve underprivileged communities throughout the Philadelphia area. Dr. Zeledon also volunteered his time through the annual MOM n PA Dental Missions event held in Pennsylvania, and plans to continue his volunteer work through this event.

"We valued Chris so much when he was a dental assistant because of his attention to patient care and his dedicated interest in dentistry. He is excellent with interpersonal relationships and gains patients' trust with his genuine caring demeanor. These are qualities we saw in Chris as an assistant and the same qualities that will continue to follow him in his dentistry," says Dr. R. Todd Weaver. "As a dentist, Chris has an intense interest in quality restorative dentistry and esthetics. He loves endodontics and caring for patients who need emergency dental care. As a graduate from Temple Dental School, Chris has trained in advanced reconstructive and emergency care, and has a goal of beginning his Orthodontic education as soon as possible."

We Thank Our Patients and Their Families for Joining Us
for Patient Appreciation Movie Night on August 14

The park was packed with friends and families, and our team dished out delicious water ice, gave out pretzels and popcorn, and had a chance to socialize and welcome our patients to a wonderful evening! The Give and Take Jugglers began the show with a fun and entertaining routine for the kids. After the blankets and lawn chairs filled the field, and all of the glow stick necklaces were given out, the movie, Big Hero 6, filled the large screen.

For eleven years we have thanked our patients with an evening of fun, and this year was no exception. We are grateful to everyone who joined us, and we appreciate the trust our patients give us in providing for all of their family dental care. Thank you also for bringing your generous food donations for the Keystone Opportunity Center, which provides services to residents in need in our community.

school visits

This Spring our dental team had a great time in the community providing 'tooth talks' to 8 schools and daycare centers. We visited over 400 children and reviewed topics like how to properly brush your teeth for good dental hygiene, the importance of having healthy eating habits, and what to expect at a dental visit. It was fun for all, and we thank our team, and the locations who hosted our visits!

How a Pennsylvania dental practice is making patients aware of Oral Cancer Awareness Month by Meg Kaiser

snow flake

It’s the middle of the month, so by now everyone should be aware that April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month. To call attention to this important cause, many dental offices are going above and beyond the “normal” oral cancer exam by discussing the exam more thoroughly with patients, offering oral cancer education, and making donations to oral cancer awareness causes.

One such practice is Weaver Reckner & Reinhart Dental Associates, with offices in Souderton and Harleysville, PA. The dental teams of the practice recently teamed up with Oral Cancer Cause (OCC) – founded in 2013 by Linda Miles and Robin Morrison in memory of Charlotte Estep, Linda Miles’ sister-in-law, and Mike Collins, Robin Morrison’s brother – to help bring oral cancer to the forefront of people's minds. Continue article on Dentistry IQ website.

In the month of April, with the help of our wonderful patients, we raised $2160 for Oral Cancer Cause, a nonprofit that supports families who have a member with oral cancer. Our practice donated $1 for each dental exam and we asked our patients to contribute as well. Our sincere thanks to everyone who participated, and for helping us share the message of the benefits of early detection.

Oral Cancer Awareness, Raising Funds for Oral Cancer Cause

“We will be donating $1 for every exam we do in April to Oral Cancer Cause, which supports families who have a member with oral cancer. We will be asking our patients if they want to join us and match the $1, then they can sign an OralCancerCause.org card with their name to hang on the wall in each office. We will also be educating our patients about oral cancer and what can be done to prevent and catch it early,” says Tara Ayers, Office Administrator. Weaver Reckner Reinhart Dental Associates is a Platinum Partner of the Oral Cancer Cause (OCC). As an OCC partner, we support the not-for-profit organization’s mission to improve the quality of life for oral cancer patients

Oral cancer is one of the fastest growing cancers in the U.S. and will be diagnosed in more than 40,000 Americans this year alone. When caught early, the survival rate can be as high as 90 percent. A Letter to Our Patients and Community

From Dr. R. Todd Weaver, D.M.D., F.A.G.D. and Dr. John L. Reckner, D.M.D., F.A.G.D.

As we reflect on the past 20 years, we are aware of so much that has developed the Weaver, Reckner, and Reinhart dental practice. The community has shaped the practice by trusting us and supporting our dental treatment options. Our staff has shaped the practice in their tireless work to serve the patients and endless commitment to the doctors vision of quality dentistry. And our leadership has shaped the practice in a major way by holding the whole enterprise together. For this we are thankful and for this we will forever be grateful.

2013

Happy Holidays!

We wish our patients and their families
a Very Happy New Year!

Remembering 2013

While looking forward to 2014, we reflect on all of the events that have taken place over the past year. We cared for children in need at our Annual Smile Day in October, attended a staff-wide training with a nationally recognized speaker, Linda Miles, and Dr. Tracy Reinhart was appointed to the MCCC Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee and joined the College's Leading Women in Philanthropy. Our team enjoyed spending time with our patients and their families at our Annual Movie Night, provided Thanksgiving Baskets for the Keystone Opportunity Center, and visited over 900 local pre-school and school age children to teach them how to have a healthy smile while receiving a gift bags filled with a toothbrush and a prize. Overall is was a fantastic year!

We are grateful to have such wonderful patients, and dedicated and caring staff members. Enjoy the holiday season, and remember we are always here for you when you need our care. View our slideshow of highlights from 2013. Follow our little tooth elf's adventures on facebook

A special note from Mary Lynn Beatty, RDH: Thank you to everyone who made a donation to Prayers and Poinsettias this holiday season. We had an excellent response to our plant sale this year and greatly appreciate the support for our educational scholarships.

Special Thanksgiving Baskets for Our Community

Thanksgiving Baskets

Each year the staff of Weaver Reckner Reinhart Dental Associates come together to create beautiful Thanksgiving baskets for families in our community.

In 2013 we donated all the trimmings for a Thanksgiving dinner, and a $25 gift card for a turkey in each of the 18 Thanksgiving baskets, and delivered them to the Keystone Opportunity Center's Food Pantry. The pantry serves over 200 families each and every month, and welcomes donations and volunteers throughout the year.

"All of the team contributes to the baskets, and knowing that the food goes to those in our community who need it, especially during the holidays, is very meaningful," says Marie Guldin, C.D.A., E.F.D.A., who coordinates the project. "We are happy to do it."

Smile Day 2013 A Success!

Smile Day 2013

On October 5th our staff spent the day volunteering their time and skills at our Annual Smile Day. We provided free dental care to over 30 children in need, which included 161 procedures like comprehensive exams, digital x-rays, sealants, fluoride treatments, and composite resin fillings.

“It is always so wonderful to see the children at Smile Day,” says Sherry Detweiler, Business Assistant. “When they finish up their exams, and dental care, they are smiling, and their parents are very appreciative.”

“We want to thank our staff for their dedication,” says Dr. John Reckner (above, left). “Giving back, and treating children who may not otherwise get the dental exams they need, is very fulfilling. We are thankful to have such a caring team at WRR, and we look forward to next year.”

Annual Training for Our Complete Dental Team

Readers' Choice Award

On October 18th, we held our annual practice-wide training and in-service day. Our three offices came together to learn from Linda Miles, a highly recognized dental practice management speaker who has spent over 35 years motivating dental teams to serve their patients with exceptional customer service.

Creating Smiles for All Ages: Help for Snoring

Get Ready for School Appointments

Every month we see patients who are having problems with disturbed sleep. Some have already had a sleep study completed and been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), others simply want to reduce their snoring and not disturb their spouse. Either way we can help.

"With one initial visit and a follow-up we can create a custom made Somnomed appliance that will help eliminate snoring and ease the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)," says Dr. George Reinhart. The appliance increases the amount of oxygen received during sleep.

Obstructive sleep apnea affects the way you breathe when you're sleeping--breathing is briefly interrupted or becomes very shallow during sleep. You spend more time in light sleep and less time in the deep, restorative sleep you need to be energetic, mentally sharp, and productive the next day. Normal snoring doesn't interfere with the quality of your sleep as much as sleep apnea does, so you're less likely to suffer from extreme fatigue and sleepiness during the day.

Call us to make an appointment for a custom made Somnomed appliance at 215-723-2162 or email to make an appointment for a check-up.

9th Annual Patient Appreciation Movie Night a Success!

Movie Night 2013

Thank you to all of our patients, families and friends for joining us on Monday, July 29 for our annual movie night at the Sellersville Theater. We really enjoyed seeing our young patients with their families, and everyone had a good time and enjoyed the show. We especially appreciate the overwhelming generosity of those who brought donations for the Keystone Opportunity Center. This year we filled approximately 30 grocery bags with much needed food for our community. Also a special thanks goes out to all of our staff who make this event so special. Have a great summer, and enjoy our photos from the evening.

Protect Your Smile, Wear a Mouth Guard

Get Ready for School AppointmentsThe National Youth Sports Safety Foundation (NYSSF) reported that athletes who don't wear mouth guards are 60 times more likely to damage their teeth. - American Dental Association

Many of our patients play sports—football, soccer, field hockey or lacrosse—or enjoy skateboarding. And for all of these activities, a good fitting mouth guard is essential. You can choose between a ready to use, boil and bite, or a custom-fitted mouth guard that we can make especially for you or your child in our office. The best guards are easy to clean, tear resistant and do not restrict your speech or breathing.

"With school and sports seasons starting, feel free to bring in your mouth guard for us to check. Remember to always wear one," says Dr. David Guengerich. "They're very important, and we want you to have fun while keeping your teeth protected." If you do have a dental emergency follow these tips, and call us right away so we can help at 215-723-2162 or email to make an appointment for a check-up.

Harleysville Country Fair Days Parade, May 25

Impromtu Dental Exam

We hope you enjoyed The 46th Annual Harleysville Jaycees Country Fair Days Parade on Saturday, May 25. Although we were not able to attend due to the weather, we have fond memories from last year of having our hay wagon, filled with our staff and their families, pulled by (huge!) Clydesdale horses . (thank you, Mr. Ruth! Above, Dr. Reckner gives our 4 legged friend an impromptu dental exam :) See more photos from last year's parade.

This wonderful annual Harleysville Jaycees fundraiser benefits many local charities, like the Harleysville Community Center, the Souderton Area High School Drug and Alcohol Resistance Team, and the local area YMCA.

Giving Back to Help Others Move Forward

Dr.Tracy Reinhart

Dr. Tracy Reinhart is proud to be an Integral member of Montgomery County Community College's Leading Women in Philanthropy. The group encourages alumnae and friends to pool their resources to create positive and sustainable change in the lives of female students.

"Being able to give back to the college that gave me a strong foundation in dental hygiene is very rewarding," says Dr. Tracy Reinhart. "I am personally fulfilled showing how business women can pool their resources to better the experiences of the students." Dr. Reinhart received an Associates Degree at MCCC and went onto graduate from Temple University's School of Dental Medicine in 1999.

WRR Honored at PAGD Banquet for Smile Day

PAGD Cares Logo

Twice a year, at our WRR Smile Day, our team volunteers their time to treat patients who cannot afford dental care. The event is organized by Dr. Dave Guengerich and our front desk coordinator Sherry Detweiler. In recognition of our efforts, we were honored to receive an award at the annual Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry (PAGD) banquet in Bedford Pennsylvania in April 2013.

In addition, PAGD Cares was launched to reach untreated dental patients in our Pennsylvania communities. Dr. John Reckner, FAGD and Dr. R. Todd Weaver, FAGD, participated in the first clinical outreach at PAGD's 2012 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. The outreach was held at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School and Dr. Weaver's daughter Keri was their assistant and did a phenomenal job. Watch this really lovely video about PAGD Cares (and look for Dr. Reckner's and Dr. Weaver's cameo!).

Dr. Tracy Rossi Reinhart '93 Scholarship Awarded, Reinhart Joins MCCC's Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee

Tracy L. Reinhart, DMD, FAGD with MCCC Scholarship Winner

In honor of Dr. Tracy Reinhart being inducted into the 2010 Alumni Hall of Fame at Montgomery County Community College our practice has established an annual $1000 scholarship to be awarded to a second year dental hygiene student. We are very happy to announce that this year's recipient is Jaclyn Irvin (pictured on right with Dr. Reinhart at MCCC's Salute to Excellence Banquet).

"Providing encouragement and financial assistance to a student training to enter the dental field has great meaning to me personally, since I got my start at MCCC as a dental hygiene student before continuing my education at Temple University's School of Dentistry" says Dr. Reinhart.

We are also proud to announce that Dr. Tracy L. Reinhart has been appointed to the Montgomery County Community College Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee. "I am excited to be able to lend my professional insight and suggestions to the college so they can continue to offer high quality dental care," says Dr. Reinhart. Congratulations!

Caring for Our Community, Reflections of 2012

Thinking back on 2012, we remember all of the wonderful events that have occurred at WRR during the past year including Dr. Tracy Reinhart receiving her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, caring for children in need at our WRR Smile Days in April and October, walking to fight oral cancer, opening our online dental store, celebrating with our neighbors at the Annual Harleysville Parade, and our very special patient appreciation events at Movie Night at the Sellersville Theater and Rita's Water Ice giveaway.

We have such great patients, and we are thankful to our staff who are dedicated, caring and skilled. Enjoy the season, and remember we are always here when you need our care.

2012

We are Thankful!

Tracy L. Reinhart, DMD, FAGD

Each year the staff of Weaver Reckner Reinhart Dental Associates come together to create beautiful Thanksgiving baskets for families in our community.

In 2012 we donated all the trimmings for a Thanksgiving dinner, and a $25 gift card for a turkey in each of the 21 Thanksgiving baskets, and delivered them to the Keystone Opportunity Center's Food Pantry. The pantry serves over 200 families each and every month.

"Providing holiday dinners for families in need, in our community is something our staff looks forward to doing every year," says Dr. Todd Weaver. "Marie Guldin,C.D.A., E.F.D.A., who coordinates the project, and the rest of our team put a lot of effort and care into the baskets, and we are indeed thankful to have such a dedicated, community-minded team."

Smile Day a Success

Tracy L. Reinhart, DMD, FAGD

"We thank all of our staff who volunteered their time and skills on Saturday, October 13th to provide free dental care to children in need," says Tracy L. Reinhart, D.M.D., F.A.G.D. "This is a day our whole team looks forward to, and we were able to care for 25 patients and completed 156 procedures."

"The day was truly a blessing and it was very rewarding to see the beautiful smiles of the children as they were leaving. The parents were very appreciative. It really is a joyful day to be able to coordinate an event that helps children," says Sherry Detweiler, Business Assistant.

WRR Team Members Walk to Fight Oral Cancer

Tracy L. Reinhart, DMD, FAGD

"I was so glad a team from WRR could participate in the walk! We were able to meet oral cancer survivors and their families, enjoy a brisk walk around a beautiful park and raise funds for a great cause. Many thanks to those who joined us on Saturday, and to those who supported us by making a donation," says Nancy Moyer, Administrative Team, WRR.

Our team’s participation was inspired by a visit to our staff training day by Eva Grayzel, an oral cancer survivor who also participated in the Lehigh Valley Oral Cancer Walk on September 29. At WRR, we know how important it is to screen patients for oral cancer, that's why we include screenings during our dental exams.

The Oral Cancer Foundation just produced a powerful Public Service Announcement with Michael Douglas, a survivor of oral pharyngeal cancer.

WRR’s Great Summertime Postcard Contest Has a Winner!

Postcard drawing

All summer long our patients have sent in postcards from their travels, whether near or far, and we’ve entered them in our contest to win a new iPad or a $500 gift certificate to Great Wolf Lodge. On Sept. 5th we picked a winner! Congratulations to Ashley Nguyen (who chose a new iPad), pictured above with Business Assistant Danielle Mundondo.

“We thank everyone who participated in the contest! It has been wonderful reading your notes, and seeing where you’ve been this summer,” says Dr. R. Todd Weaver. “We received 190 postcards from as far away as Greece and Thailand, and we also loved the beautiful hand-made postcards sent to our offices.”

The Summertime Postcard Contest and patient appreciation events like Movie Night and Free Rita’s Water Ice day are just some of the ways we let our patients know we are glad they’ve chosen Weaver Reckner Reinhart for their dental care.

Cooling Off at Patient Appreciation Day

Thank you to all of our fantastic patients and friends who joined us at our 3rd Annual Patient Appreciation Day on August 19th at Rita's Water Ice in Harleysville. We gave out free treats, collected school supplies for the Keystone Opportunity Center, played some games like spin the wheel, and enjoyed just hanging out and talking in the summer sunshine.

Congratulations Dr. Tracy L. Reinhart for earning a Fellowship in The Academy of General Dentistry!

Tracy L. Reinhart, DMD, FAGD

“As a general dentist we do not have a board certification so The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Fellowship was a way to demonstrate my commitment to my profession,“ says Dr. Reinhart. “It took me 10 years to complete over 500 hours of post doctorate course work, and I love coming back from a course knowing I have the most current information for my patients.”

Tracy L. Reinhart, DMD, FAGD received the Fellowship award during the AGD’s 2012 Annual Meeting and Exhibits, held June 21 to 24 in Philadelphia.

“Now that Dr. Reinhart has been awarded the Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), it demonstrates to all general dentists everywhere that she has achieved a status that few dentists have accomplished. The doctors in our practice are extremely proud, and we salute her for her hard work to pass the fellowship exam which she is required to take as a prerequisite to the degree,” says Dr. Todd Weaver, DMD, FAGD. “She is truly a gift to our practice and our community.”

Dr. Reinhart plans to continue her studies by applying her coursework towards obtaining a Mastership in AGD in the future. (photo by Syl Rossi)

8th Annual Patient Appreciation Movie Night A Success

Thank you to all of our patients who brought their families out to the Sellersville Theater to see The Muppets. This is one of our very favorite events, and we love to see everyone come out for a fun, casual evening of friendship and celebration! A special thanks goes to Marie Guldin and all of our staff who help make this night such a success. We were able to collect over 12 bags of much needed groceries for the Keystone Opportunity Center, a non-profit that helps local families throughout the Indian Valley.

Our next event is Sunday, Aug 19th, 3 to 5 p.m., when we have Patient Appreciation Day at Rita's Water Ice on Main Street in Harleysville. Come by for a free water ice scooped out by your favorite WRR staff. Bring school supplies to donate to the Keystone Opportunity Center.

2012 Harleysville Parade

Thanks to all of our patients, friends, staff and neighbors who came out to the 2012 Harleysville Country Fair Days Parade. We had a great time, and especially want to congratulate our colleague and friend, Dr. Jack Brent, who was this year's Grand Marshal. Check out our slideshow, and see Dr. Reckner give a very special dental exam to Teddy, the clydesdale who pulled our wagon.

Good-bye Acapulco, Hello El Paso

Walking to Acapulco

The Red Team Won!

We not only "virtually" walked to Acapulco by May 2, we took a right and continued up to El Paso! After 13 weeks, our six teams with 72 teammates collectively walked more than 26,144 miles. Whew!

"The challenge will change my life forever. I am more aware of my exercise each day and strive to do better for myself," said one teammate, but we all agree. Perhaps the most dramatic story came from one of our staff who lost 25 lbs. and lowered her cholesterol by 85 points. While the official race is over, we expect to keep walking or running. We especially want to thank our "purple" patient team for being part of our fun fitness challenge.

Consider starting your own walking program (consult your doctor first). Here are some wonderful walking trails in Montgomery County. Also, read about the benefit of walking on dental health. For those of you who work at a desk, learn how standing up and taking breaks can really make a difference. See you on the walking trails!

WRR's New Online Dental Store is Open

Dental Products from WRR's Online Store

This is big news!
"Now with our online dental store we can offer our patients a way to order products that we recommend to them at their appointments, with the convenience of ordering them online," says Dr. Tracy Reinhart.

There are currently over 120 products available including electric tooth brushes, breath remedies, floss, denture care, mouth wash, whitening supplies, and more. And many of the prices are less than what you would find at Target or Walmart. Of course, it's always nice to get free shipping with orders over $25. Patti Travels to Florida, Rhonda Travels to Haiti to Help Those in Need

We are so lucky to have such dedicated and giving members on our dental care team. So far this year two from our staff have traveled with a non-profit to complete a community service project.

Here are their stories:

Patti Post working with Habitat for Humanity Patti Post, part of our front desk team, traveled to Hernando, Florida to build homes with Habitat for Humanity. She worked with the homeowner-to-be whose family, which includes two children, will be moving from their substandard housing into a beautiful newly built house in May.

"Habitat for Humanity is a hand up not a hand out since all homeowners must do 500 hours of sweat equity work in order to qualify for their home," says Patti. "Meeting and working with the new homeowners reinforces why HFH is important and why it works." Patti looks forward to more building. (And we think she looks awesome working that circular saw, too! Go Patti!)

Rhonda Souder-Ruth in Haiti Rhonda Souder-Ruth, R.D.H., the first hygienist to join our practice in 1993, traveled to Haiti in February. "Our family" (she went with her husband and 2 daughters) traveled with a service group from our church, to help with the Water for Life Organization, drilling wells in areas where clean water is so desperately needed. Our week was busy, assisting WFL in many different ways...digging ditches, painting, cleaning, welding, cooking, and much more!"

"Thanks to the generosity of WRR, we were able to take along many supplies that were given to the village mid-wives, caretakers, and schools," says Rhonda. "Giving something as simple as a toothbrush and toothpaste to the children, gave us the memory of their smiles and joy which we will always remember! We came home with the love of the Haitians in our hearts and the joy of serving as a cherished family experience."

Six Teams, One Destination!
We're (virtually) Fitness Walking to Acapulco, Mexico.

We're having fun with some friendly competition, encouragement, and healthy exercise as we track each team's progress virtually walking, or running, from Souderton, U.S.A., to Acapulco, Mexico. Our race kicks-off on February, 1, 2012, and continues until May 4th, 2012.

Teams: Dr. Reckner is the captain of the red team; Dr. Guengerich, the orange team; Dr. Weaver, the yellow team; Dr. T. Reinhart, the pink team; and Dr. G. Reinhart the green team. We also have included 12 of our patients, who make up team purple. Find your favorite WRR staff members in the slideshow above.

You'll see our hygienists, dental assistants and business assistants wearing their colorful bandanas at our office, or when they are out walking or running in the neighborhood. They'll be wearing their new pedometers to keep track of their miles. Check out the map when you visit our office, and follow each team's progress on facebook. There will be prizes along the way as each team reaches specific cities.

WRR Smile Day Provided Free Dental Care to Children, February 4

SledingAt our 2nd Annual Smile Day we provided free dental care to 44 children (16 years and younger) in our Souderton Office.

"Two dentists and 20 staff members performed 202 procedures including cleanings and check-ups, x-rays, fillings, extractions, and sealants," says Dr. R. Todd Weaver. "There were lots of relieved parents, and happy smiling children."

"There was energy and an awesome spirit that flowed through the whole office on Saturday," says Sherry Detweiler, Business Assistant and Smile Day Coordinator. "A few times I had tears in my eyes seeing the children smiling at their shiny teeth after having them cleaned. All I can say is I am excited about our next SMILE Day!"

Since December 2011 we've been planning for this special day by reaching out to area schools, churches, and by working closely with the Keystone Opportunity Center to offer appointments to children in need.

A New Year, A New Reason to Smile

Remembering 2011

Now that 2012 has begun, we remember all of the wonderful events and changes that have occurred at WRR during the past year in 2011. Some of the highlights include Dr. George Reinhart becoming partner, and meeting many of Dr. Jack Brent's patients at a special open house at our new office at 181 Main Street. At our Smile Day we provided free dental care to over 35 children in need, staff provided dental care in Ecuador with Ecaudent, and we celebrated with our patients at both our annual movie night and Rita's Water Ice give away.

Sharing the Spirit of Thanksgiving

We hope all of our patients, staff and families had a wonderful, healthy and Happy Thanksgiving.

For the past 7 years our staff have come together to create beautiful Thanksgiving Baskets filled with a complete holiday meal. This year we delivered 25 baskets (each included a $25 gift card for a turkey) to the Keystone Opportunity Center's Food Pantry.

"When I sit down to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family, it feels good to know we've provided holiday dinners for families in need, in our community," says Marie Guldin, Dental Assistant and Thanksgiving Basket Organizer. "The whole staff looks forward to this every year."

"We serve 233 families each and every month," says Food Pantry Volunteer Carol Kretschmer. "There is always a need, and we thank you very, very much."

Conferences, Training and Teamwork

Dr. Rekcner and Weaver with our new i-CAT scanner

"One aspect of our vision is to educate, empower and support our staff," says Dr. R. Todd Weaver (above right). "We are committed to advancing the skills of our dental staff in order to always offer our patients exceptional care."

This October our entire dental hygienist team attended the Annual Dental Hygiene Seminar sponsored by Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Associates. It was a full day event filled with informative workshops and lectures, including advanced training in caring for patients receiving dental implants.

And in November Dr. John Reckner and Dr. Weaver attended the 5th International Congress on 3-D Dental Imaging sponsored by Imagining Sciences International, LLC, which is located in Hatfield.

Since the spring we've been using our new I-CAT, a cone beam 3-D dental imaging scanner which provides high-definition, digital imaging with 70-80% less radiation than traditional scanners. "It's state-of-the-art technology," says Dr. Reckner (above left). "Being able to meet with experts from around the world, who are also using this technology for comprehensive patient care and advanced treatments like TMJ , dental implants, and oral surgery was a great opportunity."

WRR Runs in 11th Annual Healthy Hearts Foundation's Heart to Heart 5K

We are proud to sponsor and particpate in the Healthy Hearts Foundation's 11th Annual Heart to Heart 5K which took place on September 25 at Lake Lenape Park. Thanks to all of our patients, staff and friends who came out to join us! Although it was a bit muggy and the 5K runners had to dodge some geese on the first time around the course, it was a great day for the community! Promoting a heart healthy lifestyle with exercise and good nutrition is important, and the children who ran in the 1 mile fun run definitely enjoyed themselves. See you next year.

Nitrous Oxide Now Available

"We are excited to announce that at our new Harleysville office at 181 Main Street, we are now able to provide the option of nitrous oxide during your dental visit. Nitrous Oxide (N2O) or 'laughing gas' lowers a patient's anxiety and creates a more comfortable experience for anyone who may be nervous about getting numb or having dental procedures."

Dr. George Reinhart

Dr. John Reckner scooping yummy treats for the crowd.Thank you for joining us at our 2nd Annual Patient Appreciation Day at Rita’s Water Ice on August 14. We scooped out free water ice all afternoon for patients and their families, and enjoyed the music, games, and balloons. This is our way of saying we are glad you chose Weaver, Reckner and Reinhart for your dental care! We are committed to serving our community and will continue to collect kid-friendly lunch box items or cleaning/paper products for the Keystone Opportunity Center. Annual Movie Night Great Fun for Everyone

“It just gets better and better each year,” says Dr. John Reckner, remarking on the turn out at the Annual Free Movie Night to thank and celebrate patients, held on July 19. Every seat in the Sellersville Theater was filled. Families were greeted by WRR staff, given popcorn and treats, and before the Disney film “Tangled” began a lucky person won the Family Fun Night Pack raffle.

“We look forward to this night all year,” says Marie Guldin, dental assistant and popcorn expert. “Seeing our patients and their families, it’s just such a fun night for everyone.”

On entering the theater families filled approximately 12 grocery bags with much needed food donations for the Keystone Opportunity Center, a non-profit that helps local residents throughout the Indian Valley.

We Marched in The 44th Annual Harleysville Country Fair Days Parade 2011

Watch a slideshow of photos from the 2011 parade.

This year our staff and their families were pulled on a wagon by clydesdale horses! We tossed out treats for the kids, and the young at heart, and saw lots of our patients and friends along the parade route. Thanks for joining us, and see you next year!

The fireworks, carnival rides, music and more are part of the Harleysville Jaycees' largest fundraiser which supports many local families in need and local charities, including the Harleysville Community Center and the Harleysville YMCA.

New Technology Enhances Patient Care

Dr. Todd Weaver with New i-Cat Scanner

(Left to Right) Dr. R. Todd Weaver with Alissa White, R.H.D.

This spring we replaced our panoramic x-ray machine with a Next Generation i-CAT, a cone beam 3-D dental imaging scanner that provides high-definition, digital imaging with even less radiation. "Now we are able to gather so much more information we need to thoroughly treat our patients. Our new dental Cat Scan machine uses 70-80% less radiation than traditional medical cat scans all without having to leave the comforts of our Souderton office," says Dr. John Reckner.

The i-CAT can be used for regular check-up as well as provide comprehensive imaging for advanced dental services like treatment for TMJ and implants. The i-CAT was developed and manufactured by Imaging Sciences International, a company that provides state-of-the-art imaging systems to dentists and specialist around the globe, and is located in Hatfield, Pa.

WRR Smile Day Provides Free Dental Care to Children in Need

“The whole day went REALLY well and we were thrilled with the success of it!” says Dr. David Guengerich. “We are very thankful to our skilled and compassionate staff who volunteered their time to treat 35 children at our Souderton Office on Saturday, April 30.”

Young patient with SunglassesA team of 2 dentists and 20 staff members completed 191 procedures including, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, x-rays, extractions and exams.

“The patients were SO appreciative and the staff had a great time serving them! We definitely plan to do this again- definitely in a year, possibly in 6 months,” says Dr. Tracy Reinhart.

“Some of the children will be seen at our office for follow-up, others were referred to the dental resources we use for reduced or free care, such as the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic at Temple University, the hygiene department at Montgomery County Community College, HealthLink Medical Center and The Children's Dental Clinic.

Young patient with SunglassesSince January the dental practice has planned for this special day by reaching out to area schools, churches, and by working closely with the Keystone Opportunity Center to offer appointments to children in need. “I loved what my patient, Matt, said to my dental assistant and I, ‘Thanks my teeth feel so much better’ after we did a few fillings," said Dr. Tracy Reinhart.

Dental Trip Provides Care to Children in Ecuador

Tara Ayers in Ecuador

Tara Ayers with Ecuadent volunteer Dr. Jack Hankle and young dental patient.

"Traveling to Ecuador last month with my husband (Rob) on a dental mission was incredibly rewarding," says Tara Ayers, WRR's Office Administrator. "I am so grateful for the opportunity to join Ecuadent."

With her team of 16 volunteers, including 5 dentists, Tara helped provide free dental care to over 600 children with almost 2000 procedures being performed.

Ecuadent is a non-profit organization that performs free dental care to children in Esmeraldes, which is on the Northern coast of Ecuador. This is the second trip to Ecuador for WRR staff. In September 2010, Brenda Smith, dental hygienist, Lisa Delp, dental assistant, and Tina Schaffer, dental assistant, also participated in an Ecuadent trip.

On a personal note, while she was in Ecuador, Tara also got to meet the child the Ayers have sponsored for 10 years through Compassion. "The whole trip was an awesome adventure!" says Tara.

Dental Hygienists Learn Advanced Laser Skills

Advanced Training is conducted throughout the year at WRR.

(Left to Right) Trainer Mary Lynn Smith, R.D.H., Dr. David Guengerich, Shannon Baccari, R.H.D., and Jennifer Cassel, R.H.D. practice with Angie Nyce, Dental Hygienist.

Throughout the year each team on our staff receives in-service training to learn the most advanced dental techniques. On March 18, 2011 the dental hygienists spent the afternoon with Mary Lynn Smith, R.D.H., advancing their skills in Laser use for periodontal (gum) treatment.

"We make continuing education one of our top priorities so that we can always make dental treatment as comfortable as possible for our patients," says Dr. David Guengerich.

Dr. George J. Reinhart Becomes Partner

George J. Reinhart, D.M.D."After over 11 years of practice, seven of them with Weaver, Reckner, Reinhart, settling in and committing to the practice and the community was the right decision," says George J. Reinhart, D.M.D. "Although I do not anticipate a big impact or change to the staff or patients, I believe the WRR partnership will be strengthened."

"We have already considered Dr. Reinhart to be a partner in so many ways," says Dr. R. Todd Weaver, D.M.D., F.A.G.D., "in the way he treats patients with care, in the way he communicates with staff and in the way he extends friendship with the doctors of the practice."

"Dr. Reinhart is a brilliant individual who is capable of great things in dentistry because of his dedication and caring manner," says Dr. John L. Reckner, D.M.D., F.A.G.D. "This makes him a perfect and most valued partner."

Welcome Back to Angie and Ashleigh

Angie Nyce and Ashleigh Miller

"Congratulations to Angie Nyce (left), and Ashleigh Miller, E.F.D.A. (right), who will be returning to patient care in mid-April after having their babies in the first week of January. Angie and her husband, Jordan, welcomed sweet little Harrison, and Ashleigh and her husband, Will, welcomed sweet little Caleb. We wish them all much love and joy!

Celebrating National Children's Dental Health Month, February 2011

Teaching Children about Dental HealthLori Hunsberger, one of our receptionists, taught her daughter, Reese, (pictured) and her classmates at New Friends Nursery School about how to keep their teeth healthy. The children got to practice on a special yellow puppet. Our staff often visit schools to teach dental health.

We like to see kids around age two for a visit to "get a ride in the chair", quickly "count" the teeth and polish if all is going well. Kids get a new toothbrush and a prize. This positive experience sets the tone for a lifetime of preventive care and a healthy mouth.

Learn how we are very family friendly.

WRR Opens New Office in Harleysville

Main Street Office Staff

In November 2010, we added new staff and our third office at 181 Main Street, Harleysville, formerly the office of Jack Brent, D.M.D.

Dr. Brent retired in December 2010 after 41 years of service to the community, including active duty in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He leaves us with excellent staff who share our passion for dentistry and caring for people.

Patients at all 3 offices will continue to see the same smiling faces and receive the same level of care and comfort Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart prides ourselves on. In addition, the Main Street office will have expanded services including Oral Surgery, Endodontics (root canal), Extractions, Orthodontics, Invisalign®, and Dental Implants.

Dr. Tracy Rossi Reinhart Scholarship Fund Established at Montgomery County Community College

Dr. Tracy Reinhart was inducted into the Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) Alumni Hall of Fame in October. At the Awards Ceremony the partners and staff from Weaver, Reckner , Reinhart surprised Dr. Reinhart by establishing a $1,000 per year scholarship in her honor to go to a MCCC second-year dental hygiene student.

“Montgomery County Community College gave me the foundation to fulfill my dreams,” said Dr. Tracy Reinhart, “It was here where my love and passion for giving back stems.”  (As quoted in the Souderton Independent)

Dr. Reinhart obtained her Registered Dental Hygienist license at MCCC then went on to pursue her D.M.D. at Temple University School of Dentistry.  View the video produced by MCCC about Dr. Tracy.

Donations to increase the scholarship are welcome. Students interested in applying should contact MCCC’s admission department.

Some extra special office news!

Hezekiah

We congratulate Dr. Guengerich and his wife Michelle on the birth of their beautiful little baby boy, Hezekiah Jude Guengerich! He arrived at 10:36 a.m. on August 30 weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz. 20 inches long. Much love and joy from our staff and patients.

Sharing Skills at Our Annual Training Day

Annual Training Day at Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart

Each year in September we have one special day to bring our whole staff together for training. This year, our goal was to become more proficient in our day-to-day skills so we can continue to exceed our patient's expectations. The doctors and entire staff participated in workshops, cross training groups, even practicing some skills on each other! We ended the day hearing from an inspirational oral cancer survivor who focused on the importance of early detection. We are so appreciative of our team's desire to continue to grow and improve! (Our speaker, Eva Grayzel has authored a children's book for families with a member who has cancer. For more information, www.evagrayzel.com)

BEE Movie — A Summertime Movie Under the Stars

August 16

Thank you to the over 275 patients, friends, family and neighbors who came out to watch BEE Movie with us on August 16th. We especially want to thank you for all of the generous donations of “ kid-friendly” food we received to help support the Keystone Opportunity Center. See you next year!

Running For A Good Cause—Heart Health

This is the first year we participated in the Healthy Hearts Foundation's 10th Annual Heart to Heart 5K Run and we hope to make this one of our annual events. Members of our staff ran, and we also got our hearts pumping in the fitness walk. We enjoyed sharing the connection between dental health and heart disease at our information table. We heard many walkers pledging to enter the 5K next year. Thanks to our patients for coming out to cheer us on!

The Healthy Hearts Foundation's goal is to raise awareness of heart disease and to encourage healthy lifestyles. They provide multiple Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) to the community and provide cardiac rehabilitation, medications and treatments to patients when they are in need. The foundation encourages young children to make healthy choices by providing teaching materials and equipment to local elementary school. A very worthwhile organization and we are proud to support it.

5th Annual Movie Night Collects Food for Needy
More than 200 patients, staff, and family members came out to WRR's 5th Annual Movie Night for a free screening of Nanny McPhee at the Sellersville Theater on August 25. Their generous donations allowed us to collect more than four laundry baskets full of fruit, vegetables, and canned goods to donate to Manna on Main Street. We thank our patients and staff for their generosity and for helping us aid those who are struggling in our community.

Our guests enjoyed popcorn and soft drinks on us, and we had fun giving away four $20 gift cards for iTunes. We look forward to spending time with our patients outside the office at this annual event.

Supporting our Community with Help from Rita’s
Nearly 100 patients joined Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart Associates staff and their families for an afternoon of fun and free water ice to support local students on August 2. At the Rita’s in Harleysville, patients and their families donated enough school supplies to fill more than 20 backpacks for the Keystone Opportunity Center. Rita’s also generously donated a portion of the proceeds to the Keystone Opportunity Center. We thank our patients and Rita’s for a successful event!

More than 30 WRR staff members and their families marched in the Harleysville Memorial Day Parade on Saturday, May 23, 2009. We wore our WRR T-shirts while we marched alongside our patriotic red, white, and blue float featuring big, white, healthy teeth. We were happy to see so many of our patients cheering from the sidelines. Haines & Kibblehouse generously loaned us a flatbed truck for our float.

Cavity Crusaders Visits Local Elementary Schools

Dental Health Month From left to right, Dental Assistant Courtney Moyer and Dental Hygienists Angie Nyce and Diana Whittaker show Franconia School students how to properly brush their teeth during National Children’s Dental Health Month, February 2009.

In honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month in February, Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart Dental Associates again sponsored the Cavity Crusaders show at Souderton elementary schools. While watching the Hilarious Magic of Sam Sandler, children learned proper brushing and healthy eating habits in a funny and fascinating way.

This is the second year we sponsored this show. “Dental education and community are two very important values at our practice,” said Dr. Todd Weaver, D.M.D., F.A.G.D. “We got a superb response from children, parents, and teachers last year, so we wanted to continue and grow the program.”

In addition to the show, every child received a free toothbrush and two-minute hourglass, provided by the practice, to encourage two minutes of brushing two to three times a day.

Hygienists Visited Preschools
In addition to the Cavity Crusaders show, our hygienists visited local nursery schools, preschools and daycare facilities to educate youngsters on the importance of good dental hygiene, healthy eating habits and regular dental visits. These children received free toothbrushes and two-minute hourglasses, as well.

“We want children to be comfortable with dentists at a young age and start good habits early,” said Dr. Weaver. “We offer dentistry services specific to children and try to make our offices kid-friendly from the reception room to the big chair. By sending the hygienists they see at the dentist office to the schools, we hope to reinforce a positive association with the dentist office and dental health.”

From our offices in Souderton and Harleysville, Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart Dental Associates offers comprehensive dental services for patients of all ages. Since 1993, the practice has focused on its commitment to total dental health and the things we value most—convenience, comfort, education, industry advancement, and personal relationships.

WRR Team Takes a Day to Tour Philadelphia & Adopts a Hippo
To thank the hardworking staff at Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart, the Doctors took the team out for a Tour of Philadelphia in October 2008. We toured on the open trolley, and enjoyed a meal at the Reading Terminal Market. We also took a tour of the vet hospital at the Philadelphia Zoo, and to support the zoo, adopted a hippo we’ve named Diva.
