Dental Implants

Dental Implants

A dental implant looks and feels just like a natural tooth, and is a permanent solution for patients who want to have a beautiful, healthy smile. Here are some of the comments we hear from our patients:

"This is the best health decision I've ever made."

"My new implant feels just like a natural tooth, I should have done this years ago."

"Wow that was quick, that was painless. What an easy, cool way to replace teeth."

Whether you’ve suffered tooth loss due to aging, trauma, or poor oral hygiene, our doctors will examine you to see if you are a candidate for dental implants. If you are, we guide you through the process, making sure you are comfortable at every step of the way while we restore your beautiful smile.

For Beauty and For Health

It is a matter of aesthetics and health. Implants create a better chewing function and patients are then able to eat a more varied and nutritious diet with the comfort of having a permanent solution, which is not removable.

"Patients choose implants because it is the longest lasting solution for almost all tooth loss problems," says Dr. John Reckner. "Patients really understand that implants prevent damage to their surrounding healthy teeth."

And implants preserve the vertical dimension of the bite. Without this support a patient can run the risk of developing facial muscular pain, which is called TMJ (TemoroMandilbular Joint pain). Dr. Reckner specializes in treating TMJ, which if left untreated can lead to headaches, dizziness, and even ringing in the ears.

Of the patients who decide to restore their bite with a dental implant, half are having one tooth replaced, while the other 50 percent are replacing two or more teeth. As far as age goes, we can place implants in adult patients who are 18 to 90+ years old, and take special care with elderly patients who may have age-related health concerns.

"Some younger patients can be missing one or two adult teeth from birth," says Dr. Reckner. "In combination with orthodontics we are asked to move teeth into the correct position, and then restore missing teeth with beautiful implants when they reach adulthood."

We Are With You Every Step of The Way

When done at our office you receive complete dental care with doctors you know and trust. "The same doctor sees their patient through all phases of care from diagnosis to implant placement to crown or bridge placement," says Dr. George Reinhart. "And we are able to place the implants with the final results in minutes."

"In caring for our patients, we take the time to listen to their concerns and goals, and encourage them to ask questions," says Dr. R. Todd Weaver. "By including them in the design phase of the process it ensures they will be very pleased with the final result, a new beautiful implant that is perfectly placed."

With the advice and guidance of our doctors patients may decide to receive additional cosmetic treatments like Zoom or Opalescence Whitening, porcelain veneers, or crowns on nearby teeth to complete their smile makeover.

Creating a Treatment Plan

After a planning and examination visit, the patient can expect the process to take as little as three visits over the course of 3 to 9 months.

We use several world-class implant systems including Keystone and Straumann® and choose the best design for each individual patient. Using different systems and a high-tech diagnosis allows implants even in patients with little bone.

Dr. George Reinhart With the use of our i-CAT scanner we are able to select the very best location for placing and restoring implants properly. "With our i-CAT scanner, we evaluate a patient's comprehensive 3-D image including all nerves, spaces, sinuses and bone," says Dr. G. Reinhart. "This also makes it possible for us to place implants in patients who previously thought, due to bone loss, they couldn't get them. When we place an implant it is with experience, skill and precision."

Implants are placed immediately following extraction of the tooth while the patient is still numb, or they are placed in a space where a tooth had been lost. Once the site of the implant heals, patients return to have their brand new implant restoration placed to fill the space. Currently the surgical visit is done at our Souderton and Peter Becker Offices, the placing of the implant restoration is done at all offices.

They all are proud alums of Temple University's Kornberg School of Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Weaver and Dr. Reckner have earned a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.), an award given for post graduate continuing dental education.

"It feels great to give our patients a beautiful smile with a well functioning tooth," says Dr. Reckner. "And it's an even better feeling to see our patients very pleased with the results as it lasts year after year."
